The Bend in the Road
"My future seemed to stretch out before me like a straight road. I thought I could see along it for many a milestone. Now there is a bend in it. I don't know what lies around the bend, but I'm going to believe that the best does." -L.M. Montgomery

Favorite quote(s) of the week: “Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to
experience the world in the way they have been told to.” – Alan
Keightley
“I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” — Mark Twain
By God's grace, my Mom still loves me. I was so annoying that I annoyed myself.
Each time I see somebody that I have not seen since before I left, they ask me how my trip was; I reply, "It was amazing/wonderful/awesome/lovely/breathtaking." Seriously, it really was, but one word I do not use is "perfect." Instead of telling you how breathtakingly beautiful Cinque Terre, Italy is:
Or how beautiful the sunsets were in Ireland:
Or how I encountered the Loch Ness Monster...don't be jealous.
I'll be telling you about the unplanned moments, and the not-knowing-how-to-open-the-train-door-and-missing-your-stop kind of moments. Don't you get tired of people posting pictures of their perfect Hollywood vacations? I just want to look them in the eye and say, "What really happened?"
There were a couple of times I had Hollywood expectation, but don't worry, they were immediately dashed against the beautiful European rocks. Most of the time I knew you just had to deal with the weather/events that happened, but there were times when I wondered why the world did not revolve around me.
All I can say is that I am extremely blessed, and I am so grateful to have gone. Stay tuned!

New Title
Favorite quote of the week: "My future seemed to stretch out before me like a straight road.
I thought I could see along it for many a milestone. Now there
is a bend in it. I don't know what lies around the bend,
but I'm going to believe that the best does. It has a
fascination of its own, that bend. I wonder how
the road beyond it goes--what there is of green glory and soft,
checkered light and shadows--what new landscapes--what new
beauties--what curves and hills and valleys further on." -Anne of Green Gables, By L.M. Montgomery
So, I'll just skip trying to be deep with this whole moving on/phase of life thing. I will just recap my titles thus far:
Senior Citizen- because I was a senior in highschool
Stuck in the Middle- because I was in between highschool and college. Also, this song was the inspiration for that.
The Bend in the Road- because other than going to college, I have no idea what I'm going to do and what is going to happen. Inspiration--the above quote.
I have not blogged that much this past year. I'm not going to bore you and say I was sooo busy, etc.; it just wasn't a priority, that's all.
I will write about my trip as soon as I get pictures in order.

Cavanaughs Stayin' Classy
So, I know I haven't posted in a while, but I guess I'll keep the Stayin' Classy going. I know what you are thinking, I fail at life.
In honor of Valentine's day. One year, my sweet brother took me out for Valentine's day. Not to sound vain, but this is a pretty awesome outfit/teeth/hair; however, the giant heart earrings are the classy touch.

A Friend Is Someone Who Likes You
Favorite quote of the week:
A Friend is someone who likes you.
It can be a boy...
It can be a girl...
or a cat...or a dog...or even a white mouse.
A tree can be a different kind of friend. It doesn't talk to you, but you know it likes you, because it gives you apples... or pears... or cherries... or, sometimes, a place to swing.
A brook can be a friend in a specific way. It talks to you with splashy gurgles. It cools your toes and lets you sit quietly beside it when you don't feel like speaking.
The wind can be a friend too. It sings soft songs to you at night when you are sleepy and feeling lonely. Sometimes it calls to you to play. It pushes you from behind as you walk and makes the leaves dance for you. It is always with you wherever you go, and that's how you know it likes you.
-A Friend Is Someone Who Likes You, by Joan Walsh Anglund
This is an excerpt from an old childrens book. It's cute, and can mean exactly what it says, but can you not see God? I've heard people say if there was a God he needs to just appear, or if there was a God why is he so judgmental and restrictive. Don't you see, God is EVERYWHERE? Don't you see God doesn't just love you, he likes you, too?
When I go for a walk at night, I look up at the stars and see God. When I am "given pears," I see God. When I have conversations with people, I see God. When I play the piano, I see God. When I'm lonely, I see God. When I read, I see God. It can't be helped.
I've been reading a lot lately because I've had more time. Books, especially, since you can ponder and try to connect things, is when I think of God a lot. I am definitely not saying reading your Bible is not that important, because reading it is vital, but just an average book can be a devotional which draws me closer to God. No matter what the story or context, God is there.
Music lovers/musicians, I'm sure you agree that music can bring us breathtakingly close to God. Can't you see God hidden in the notes? Can't you hear His love story with each note that is played? Can't you feel the intimacy when you play with such emotion?
I didn't just see God once today, I saw Him throughout my entire day. God is everywhere, and miracles happen continually.
